moonbeam and magpie

	the moonbeam and the magpie met
	on a dark and stormy night
	one was just falling through the air
	the other loved bright things and flight

	they spoke again a time or two
	told old stories, made up new
	and when they knew that it was true
	each said i will be here for you
	yes i will be here

		and what i say three times is true

	the magpie stole and then gave back
	while the moonbeam waned and waxed
	each time they spoke they spoke again
	each time they fought they parted friends

	one was mortal one was not
	but for awhile they forgot
	a lifetime's such a little thing
	a magpie's stolen song to sing

	but when the moon is dark and new
	the stolen story still comes true
	the moonbeam sings the magpie's songs
	the tune is right if the words are wrong
